Study site locations: Indiana - Physiological effects of PAH exposure in Indiana Harbour Canal

Petroleum contamination in the Chicago metro area significantly increased the variability of genetic material in red blood cells of lesser scaup wintering in Indiana Harbor Canal.  The increase in genetic  variation has been related, in laboratory studies, to the incidence of broken chromosomes.
